Dawn Gasior is a former graduate of St. Syms. She attended John F. Kennedy High School and Northeastern Illinois University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and a degree in Early Childhood Education. Dawn started her career at Our Lady of Guadalupe, where she taught for a year. She left there and headed for St. Syms, and initiated a Kindergarten program, but has spent most of her career teaching second grade. For the last 27 years children have been blessed to be in her classroom. Her selfless approach, creativity and ability to see the best in her students make her an integral part of our faculty. Dawn is married with four children. In her free time she likes scrap booking, photography, gardening and writing poetry. She has been nominated for the Golden Apple and has recently won the Heart of the Schools Award. She was published in Who’s Who Among American Teachers in four separate editions, and has had an original poem published in the book Dreaming in Metaphors.
